Playing tonight, need to win those coin tosses which mostly knock me out lately, wish me luck. If it's streamed I'll be the James May lookalike with glasses and the usual colourful loud shirt.
I'm an opinionated old tosser and proud of it.

And the numbers down in Luton are strong as well with a total of 80 entries. Made up of 76 entries and 4 re-entries.

So another great platform to build on tomorrow.

If I had one of those laptops things I'd have kept you posted, but I'm well out of date. £17,600 prize money for Luton is pretty good. I think that was made up from 84 entries and 4 re entries. Had a dodgy start with being the wrong end of set over set the first hand I got involved with. I'll post a few hands if I can remember them well enough. I finished on 134,400 chips which is above average, so for me that's a good night. I miraculously won with AK v AQ. Obviously with AK in my hands I'm a 25 per cent dog but I managed to suck out and beat the AQ.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but apologies Fox, if I'm cluttering up the thread posting these hands. If it's the wrong place I can delete, then cut and paste, and start a new thread with this if you prefer.

I've got these down as accurately as I can remember.

I got clobbered on the first hand I played. TT in early and I raise to 300, get reraised by a decent player to 900. Flat call. Flop 2 7 Q with two hearts. I call a 1200 bet. 6 hearts on the turn. It's checked. Offsuit 8 on the river, and I call the bet of 2200. He turns over trip queens. FFS. I had an uneasy feeling about that one from the time I got reraised. The heart on the turn saved me some chips, as he put me on a possible flush draw.

I'm in the small blind and it's folded around to the button who raises to 400. I flat with 89o and the big blind comes along too. Flop Qh Th Tc. I check, and so does the big blind. Button fires 500, and I'm thinking come on you don't have any of that. I reraise to 1500 and take down the pot. That's my first pot of the evening and it's on a bluff, which is not my strength. It turns out that was my last real bluff of the evening.

75/150. 25o in the small blind. Under the gun limps, everyone else folds, I call and the big blind checks. Flop 2 5 A rainbow. I check, big blind bets 525 and it's raised to 1200 by the under the gun limper. I reraise to 3000. BB folds, utg flat calls. Offsuit 6 on the turn, and we both check. Queen on the river, I check and my opponent bets 5000. I call and to my astonishment he turns over AK.

I flat call a raise from the decent player in early with TT. Flop comes 7 2 4 rainbow with two hearts. Offsuit 7 on the turn. It goes check check. Off suit rag on the river and my opponent bets. I flat call and he turns over aces. Had a bad feeling about that one.

100/200 I have kings on the button and raise to 600. SB and BB both call and the flop comes 2 4 7 with two clubs. I bet 2000 and get called by the BB. Ten on the turn. I bet 5000 and get called once again. Now my hand is just a bluff catcher. I don't want to see a flushy or straightening card on the river. Off suit 6 hits. That hits his range for some straights. I check and my opponent bets 7000. I consider folding but shout "ah f*** it I call!" My opponent said he hit a straight and flush draw on the flop, but he missed the lot thankfully.

150/300. There's a very aggressive player who has been raising about 60 per cent of the hands preflop. About 80 per cent of the time he follows up on the flop even if it's 3 or 4 handed. If I get in a pot with him I could bust him or he could bust me, but he's the sort I want: over aggressive and doesn't back down. He raises to 900 and I flat call with 6h 7h. Flop comes 8h Jh 3s. Perfect, he's going to represent whatever is on the board. I'm not going to believe anything he represents if I hit. I call the inevitable follow up bet of 2000. 3h on the turn. He fires again and I just flat. I really don't want to see another heart on the river, and an offsuit queen hits. He checks and I bet 7000. He looks confused, and eventually folds.

I raise in early with Ks 5s to 900 and get two callers. Flop comes 7s 8s Ts. I check and call a 1200 bet from one player, called by the other. 6h on the turn. I look at the cards and hope one of them thinks I just hit the straight while he has a small flush. I bet 2000 and both fold.

The over aggressive player had managed to get it all in against another player who had 99 against his KK. Amazing how those sort always get rewarded with cold decks. He then got called by a player with ace high on a board with two queens and two fours. That tilted him a bit.

I raised to 900 in late with Kc 5c and get called by a middle position limper and the big blind. Flop comes 4c Kd 7s. I bet 2000 and get called by both. 8c on the turn That gives me a flush draw too. I bet 7000 and both fold.

300/600. Possibly the most important hand I played. There's a raise to 2000 in early and I'm sitting on QQ. I reraise to 5500, and my opponent pushes all in for 20,000 more. That is more than half my stack. I say "either I'm ahead against a complete f***ing idiot or I'm behind." I fold showing the queens. He could have had AK but with a good blind structure I don't want to take a 50/50 for my tourney life anyway, and that's the best shape I could have been in. Seeing how he played after that I was pleased with my fold.

600/1200 I raise to 2700 with Ad 3d in early get called by the big blind. Flop comes 4d 6d 2h. My opponent leads out for 6000. One thing I have learned is if you're going to play those sort of hands and hit a big draw you have to go with them or you're losing money in the long run. I had an overcard and the nut flush draw. I played it the Scandinavian way. I pushed all in and he calls off his last 20,000. I'm sort of surprised and not surprised to see him turn over Jd Qd. I'm 75 per cent favourite , and my hand holds up.

800/1600. The over aggressive player has been bleeding chips. I have AK in early and raise to 3600, there's a flat call in middle and the over aggressive player pushes all in for his last 20,000. I reraise all in, the middle position player folds and the over aggressive player turns over AQ. It's a miracle I win with AK.

I raise to 3600 with TT in early and get called in middle and the big blind. 2 4 Q on the flop. The bb bets 4000 and I flat call. Offsuit rag on the turn. It's checked. Two on the river and my opponent bets 7000. He's the sort who plays rags and hopes to hit, and if not puts in a bluff. I whinge "three f***ing times I've had this hand tonight, and I've lost every single f***ing one of them. I call," "Seven high," he announces. Phew!

A very aggressive player raises to 4200 in early and gets flat called by the rag playing bluffer. I have queens and shove in 20,800. No mucking about. Bung em in or f***ing fold. They fold.
I'm an opinionated old tosser and proud of it.

Great post Mr S and this is the right place so no worries. That is a healthy stack for Day 2 on Sunday and I would think you will be near the top of those who made it through..well done sir.

No Chip counts through from Luton at the moment but Michelle will be there later this morning and will get them up asap. :( :( :(

29 coming back from the 119 entries in Didsbury so I would be expecting around 22/24 players will make it through in Luton.
