I just managed to catch an interesting hand at Table 1, as I arrived, the flop was about to be dealt with 4 players still in the hand.
The board came down as the 3h9dAc, and all four players decided to keep the pot small as they all checked. The 7c turn loosened things up a little, as Adam Wilkinson fired out a bet of around 450 into the pot. Ben Galloway, sat directly to his left, made the call, as did Eddie Bhakar in who was in position.
The river was the 7h, and all the players decided discretion was the better part of valour and checked. Eddie showed his Ace Six, only to find Adam had him out kicked with Ace Queen. Ben may have started with his Tens as the best hand, but he also saw his chips head in the direction of Wilkinson.

With the re-entries closed, the steady trickle of players busting has dried up.
I just caught a hand on Table 4 where two players had queens full of tens with three queens on the board, and the action could only be described as cautious.

We are now into Level 5 where the blinds are 200/400 with an ante of 50.

The table to watch right now is the on a little bit away from the rest. It's Table 5. Barney Boatman and Patrick Rowbottom are sat either side of the dealer, and the banter between the two is hilarious.
Whether it's about Boatman's mistakenly checking out of turn, or the friendly discussion over previous hands, it may have a chance as a future sitcom. Keep an eye out in the Radio Times to see if it ever gets picked up!

Four bullets down, and maybe more to follow?

Albert Sapiano has just left the building following his elimination from Table 1. I missed the hand, but only moments before, I'd checked out his stack, which was above the tournament average. I'm expecting to see Albert back for the 3rd flight later on today for what would be his 5th bullet.

Also busted are Rhys Bright and Alaa Mohsen.

As I walked past Table 2 I watched a hand that caught my attention. Daniel Havekes opened up the action from under the gun with a raise to 1075. 2 seats to his left, Bahman Alizadehpour made the call, and the rest of the table mucked their cards.
The flop was spread to show 3dAs5h and David continued his line with a bet of 1550. Bahman released his hand, and Havekes showed an ace as he scooped the pot.

With the number of players dropping pretty rapidly in the last few minutes, Table 5 has just been broken. We are down to 36 players left in the flight, with an average chip stack of 37,500.

Joe Beevers has just busted out of the early Saturday Flight. It wasn't that surprising as he had asked me a few minutes before about the re-entry situation and he had been unable to accumulate chips.
It's pretty likely Joe will be back later today for another bite at the cherry.

It seems that the early laid back atmosphere is starting to evaporate here in Brighton as we are starting to lose players at a quicker pace.
Danny Toffell opened from under the gun +1 to 2.5k, and it folded round to Barney Boatman in the small blind. He three bet to 5.5k and got a call from both Danny and the player sitting in the big blind.
The flop fell showing Kc9d2h and the action was checked around to Danny. He moved all in for his remaining chips, which was around 21k. Barney took a moment to consider his options before his cards hit the muck. The Big Blind however slowly collated all his chips, and made the call for his tournament life.
Danny flipped over Ace-King for “Top-Top” but the big blind had Q9 for middle pair. The hand played out with a King on the river sealing the big blind’s fate. I wasn’t able to ask him his name as he left the building, but given his mood when he left, I’m not sure I’d have got an answer.

It's time for another break, which means I get to run around getting chip counts for the next 15 minutes.

When the players are back, we'll be going into Level 7.

Here we go again. That was the penultimate break for this flight and we're straight back into the action with Level 7. The blinds are 400/800 with a 75 ante.

As he left for the break, I grabbed a few words with Barney Boatman about his severely depleted chip stack. Apparently he had been dealt AQ and saw a flop of Ace - Queen – X. With top two pair, he continued to put money into the pot against the player sat two to his right (Tony Lee). Barney told me the river bet was 25k, and he must have been less than happy to see Lee turn over pocket queens for a flopped set.
Boatman is on about starting stack, but still seems to be in the mood to try and spin that up.

The tournament clock appears to be stuck at 29 players. We've had no big pots or action to speak of since the players came back from their last break.
Barney Boatman has however started the grind back to contention, picking up several smaller pots.
Level 7 is now consigned to the history of time while we start a new Level 8 where the blinds are 500/1,000 with a 100 ante.

Jane Wheeler is probably cursing my name right now. Seconds after my last post saying no-one had been eliminated, her pocket eights ran into a pair of pocket cowboys to send her to the rail.
Ben Galloway is another victim of my big mouth, as he has also exited. He opened from his 23 big blind stack with King Ten and got a call from the big blind. The money went in on a dry flop, and Ben was eliminated when his opponent hit his Jack on the turn. Ben told me that's his last attempt at this event, but I'm sure the Portsmouth Champion be back for more in the future.

Bahman Alizadehpour is no longer in the 2nd flight of the Brighton 25/25 as he has just been eliminated by Siamak Vakili. Bahman was all in holding 6-9 of diamonds with the board showing 9h-2s-7d to give him top pair. Siamak on the other hand had pocket jacks, and he actually improved to a set on the river to end Bahman’s run.
