Who’s Responsibilty

Postby NWAP » Sun Oct 01, 2017 12:47 am

Played the small field Genting Manchester Comp tonight. We get down to 5 players with £1080 in the pot. Decide to split £200 each with £80 flip for remainder. Genting dish out first 3 place tickets to 3 of the players who went to the cash desk first rather than what happens at the G when they sort out prizes and tickets according to the deal.

Next minute we realise the one of the guys who had a ticket has taken all of 2nd place money and left the casino sharpish. Me and one other manage to stop the guy who had 1st place money leaving with the £540! I manage to get about half of what I should have.

I complain to the guy gave the tickets out and he said it’s what we normally do and it’s never been a problem before that players split it themselves.

So who has responsibility? Obviously the guy who *bleep* off knew what he was doing and it’s a scummy move but should the Poker room sort the payouts out a little more professionally?!

Unfortunately if you make a deal like that you've got to trust the people you are making a deal with

Yeah, lesson learned I guess. To be fair after I wrote the post the casino gave me some free play chips and some meal vouchers. The guy who did one is now going to get blocked by management next time he comes in. Imagine ruining your reputation for £120 theft!

It is the TD's responsibility. Having worked in local poker rooms I can confirm that the TD can adjust the prizes from the computer and issue the relevant tickets.

It’s true the prizes can be changed but as stated to players when ever a deal is done on one of our tournaments, we do not have anything to do with it and all deals must be done between the players themselves.

The reason for this is that we have had issues with doing it before and to combat this from happening again we put that rule in place.
This is the first time this has happened but sadly and unfortunately there are people in the world that might try to do this kind of thing.

I can only apologise and has excepted an offering of free bet chips and a free meal in way of an apology.
Again though this is stated in our cardroom rules and is the players responsibly when doing a deal.

Yeah, as I said earlier, lesson learned.

Has the guy in question been back in the casino since I wonder
